This one-day, hands-on workshop will cover both the classroom and field aspects of drone use in agriculture. Participants will learn about different types of drones, FAA regulatory requirements, remote pilot certifications, and practical business applications for aerial imaging, spraying, and spreading. Afternoon field exercises will allow attendees to gain experience in manual flight, autonomous mission planning, and implementing drone-based tasks in real-world farm settings.
Topics to be covered:
- Drone laws and regulations
- Drone types, costs, and economics for a business setup
- Evaluation of drones for herbicide spraying
- Evaluation of drones for topdressing fertilizer application and cover crop seeding
- Drone image capture and analysis
- Hands-on training at farm
Cost for Program is $100 for the all day event that includes refreshments and lunch.
