Publication and product returns

MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute store policies

Items sold via the MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute (FRTI) are managed uniquely. For policies related to our firefighting merchandise, including training materials and apparel, please see the MU FRTI store policies page.

Thank you for visiting and shopping at the University of Missouri Extension website. MU Extension no longer maintains a warehouse of publications or logo items to facilitate exchanges or returns. Every publication and product ordered from the MU Extension store is printed on-demand at the time of order. This precludes MU Extension from accepting returns. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call 573-882-7216 during business hours.

You will need to provide the following information for the customer service representative:

  • Order number
  • Customer name
  • Shipping address
  • Item SKU numbers ordered

All of this information was included in the email order confirmation that you were provided on the date of purchase.

Online course refunds

Sometimes it is necessary to cancel your class enrollment and request a refund. MU Extension has guidelines and restrictions on when and how much the refund amount will be. Requests are made to your instructor or facilitator.

We have provided information regarding refunds for:

  • Noncredit courses with set beginning dates
  • Noncredit courses that are self-paced, self-study
  • Continuing education courses
  • Requesting a refund

Refund policy for noncredit courses with set beginning dates

Requested before 12:05 a.m. CST on the first day of class

  • Refund will be full course fee minus a 15-percent administrative fee and cost of any materials included in course fee that have already been sent to the student.

Requested up to seven days after the start of class

  • The seven-day period will be calculated from 12:05 a.m. CST on the first day of class.
  • Refund will be full course fee minus a 40-percent administrative fee and cost of any materials included in course fee that have already been sent to the student.

Requested more than seven days after the start of the class

  • The seven-day period will be calculated from 12:05 a.m. CST on the first day of class.
  • No refund.

Refund policy for noncredit self-paced, self-study courses

Requested within 24 hours after course registration

  • The 24-hour period ends at 24:00:00 after the registration time stamp recorded by the system.
  • Refund will be full course fee minus a 15-percent administrative fee and cost of any materials included in course fee that have already been sent to the student.

Requested more than 24 hours after course registration

  • This time period begins at 24:00:01 after the registration time stamp.
  • No refund.

Continuing Education course refund policy

  • Requested before program start date: Full refund minus an administrative fee.
  • Requested after program start date: No refund.
  • Course cancelled by MU Extension: Full refund.

The MU Extension customer service center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, except university-observed holidays and the week between Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
