WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Looking to be more prepared for calving season? Cattle producers interested in learning how to assist during difficult births have a hands-on opportunity in southern Missouri.
University of Missouri Extension livestock and dairy specialists will teach a calving clinic Aug. 22 at the MU Extension Center in Howell County, 1376 Bill Virdon Blvd., West Plains.

The class will cover topics such as normal and abnormal birth presentations, when to assist a cow, how to properly use obstetric chains, how to safely tube-feed a calf and how to identify what type of colostrum product to use.
