Helping others learn to grow

The mission of the University of Missouri Extension Master Gardener program is to provide horticultural information and training to the gardening public based on proven research specific to the local climate, soils, and plants.

Become an Extension Master Gardener

To become an Extension Master Gardener, participants must attend core training (Cost: $200) and provide at least 30 hours of volunteer service back to their community. Visit the Extension Master Gardener website to learn more.

Core training is offered online and in-person. Online training is offered every spring and fall, and in-person training is offered in the fall. The in-person Master Gardener Core Training in St. Louis is coordinated by Eliza Pessereau.

Online (August 23rd – December 24th)

In-person (Fall 2027)

St. Louis Master Gardeners has been providing horticultural information and assistance to the public in St. Louis City and County since 1983. Master Gardeners answer gardening questions through the hotline and provide education through the speaker's bureau, demonstration gardens, and other programs.

According to the 2025 annual report, St. Louis Master Gardeners: Had 391 active members and contributed 55,990 service hours (valued at $1,947,892).
