Effective animal health program is a crucial part of a successful small ruminant production system. Developing necessary knowledge and skills to maintain the health and well being of the animal is essential for a profitable sheep and goat enterprise.

The University of Missouri Extension 2nd Annual Small Ruminant Field Day focuses on small ruminant health awareness program. 

The attendees will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in assessing small ruminant health, vaccination program, on-farm biosecurity, metabolic diseases, feed & forage options and many more. Producers will have hands-on training on fecal egg count, five-point check and FAMACHA demonstration. 

Special Guest: Nick Forrest - Director of the American Lamb Roadshow will join us to cook lamb in 5 different ways for participants to taste for lunch, and Nick will be doing a talk on "Direct Marketing of Lamb to the Consumer". Nick has over 35 years as a lamb producer with forty-five years as a meat, deli and bakery manager for Kroger Company.
