The manufacturing landscape is changing quickly as companies adopt automation, robotics, smart sensors, and other advanced technologies. The Industry 4.0 Program helps working professionals build the skills needed to keep pace. Each micro course combines flexible online learning with hands on training inside the Industry 4.0 Lab at Mizzou Engineering.

What’s New for 2026

MU’s Industry 4.0 program now includes eight redesigned micro courses, organized into two stackable noncredit certificate pathways.

Choose the specific trainings that match your goals or complete a full four course series to earn an Industry 4.0 Certificate in Industrial Automation or Smart Manufacturing.

Program Format

  • 3 hours of online learning (completed on your schedule)
  • 8‑hour in‑person lab day in the Industry 4.0 Lab at Mizzou Engineering
  • Taught by expert faculty and industry practitioners

Who Should Attend

Professionals in manufacturing, automation, maintenance, quality, or industrial technology roles who want to upskill or transition into Industry 4.0‑aligned positions.

What You’ll Gain

Participants may take any micro‑course as a stand‑alone training and earn a certificate of completion, or complete all four courses in a pathway to earn the Industry 4.0 Certificate

  • $450 per micro‑course
  • Discounted rate available for the full four‑course bundle
  • Additional discounts for Mizzou alumni and organizations enrolling 4+ employees

Continuing Education

Participants earn 1.2 CEUs and/or 12 PDHs per micro‑course, which may be applied toward continuing education requirements for licensed engineers

Registration Deadlines

  • Industrial Automation micro‑courses: Register by April 30
  • Smart Manufacturing micro‑courses: Register by July 31

Enrollment is capped at 15 participants per micro‑course to ensure meaningful hands‑on learning in the lab.
