Project Management Leadership Institute

The MU Project Management Leadership Institute is a three-day interactive, experiential training for professionals across various levels, industries, and sectors. The Project Management Leadership Institute will provide a comprehensive overview of core project management fundamentals, focusing on planning, quantitative analysis and risk management.

Through a series of workshops covering a range of topics, participants will be equipped to successfully manage a wide array of projects, navigate common challenges and mitigate related risks. The Leadership Institute’s content is based on the Project Management Institute’s official Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is widely endorsed by project management professionals.

Highlights

  • Develop robust project plans: Learn to establish and manage data-driven project plans and budgets.
  • Team management: Develop strategies for organizing and leading diverse, high-performance project teams.
  • Performance monitoring: Utilize techniques for identifying and using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to continuously track and assess project progress.
  • Tool utilization: Gain hands-on experience with common project management tools to enhance communication, task management, and reporting.
  • Problem solving: Understand common project barriers and apply preventative and corrective measures to overcome them.

Cost: $1,550 per participant. Bulk registration (4+ employees) and/or Mizzou alumni discounts available.

Technology requirements

All participants are required to bring a laptop with Excel. Wi-Fi will be provided.

Continuing education

Attendees will gain new skills that can be applied directly back to their profession. All participants also earn Digital Badges which are embedded with data that verifies the skills and achievements from the training and can easily be shared through social media.

Additionally, the MU Career Accelerator is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities. Individuals who participate in this training can receive 15 PDCs.

Licensed engineers and architects can opt into receiving 15 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).

Instructors

Dr. Kihyung Kim, Assistant Teaching Professor at the Trulaske College of Business, University of Missouri, specializes in project management and advanced analytics. With a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, he has applied innovative project management techniques and machine learning methods in various industry projects.

Jackie Rasmussen, Assistant Teaching Professor of Management & Director of the MU International Trade Center, brings a wealth of practical hands-on project management experience from a 30-year career with the University of Missouri that includes business development, event management, training delivery and customized project management activities.

Jack Pelikan, CPA, CISA, CISSP, is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri's Trulaske College of Business specializing in information technology management. In addition to academia, Jack has more than 16 years of experience in the corporate sector in the areas of project management, audit and compliance, business process consulting/reengineering/automation, information security and data analytics, with stints at the Big 4 firms, Fortune 1000 companies and a recent IPO.
