Forest Ecology and Management

Map of Missouri's forests

Missouri's forests and woodlands occupy approximately one-third (15.2 million acres) of the Show-Me State, contributing to healthy soils and streams, improving air quality, providing critical wildlife habitat, supporting a 10.3-billion-dollar forest products industry, and giving all Missourians places to relax and recreate.

Eighty-three percent (83%) of those 15.2 million acres are privately owned. Unfortunately, Missouri's woodlands are facing numerous threats and woodland owners can no longer afford to "do nothing" with them. Explore this website to learn more about the care and management of your woodlands.
