collage of people on their woodlandEighty-three percent (83%) of Missouri’s 15.2 million forested acres are privately owned. However, fewer than 10 percent of these landowners are actively caring for their woodland.

Our Missouri Woodland Steward program is designed to help you better understand basic woodland ecology and forest management principles, so you feel more competent in tending your woodland garden. We will help you connect with other woodland owners, both newcomers like yourself as well as with more ‘seasoned’ landowners, to help build a community of like-minded spirits. And we will connect you with both public and private professional foresters responsible for assisting landowners where your property is located.

Our goal is to cover a wide variety of topics, including (but not limited to) tree identification, selecting and planting forest tree seedlings, rehabilitating neglected woodlands, chainsaw safety, selling your timber, and keeping your forest in the family. But if you feel we have left something out, please do not hesitate to contact us.
