Organic agriculture is growing in Missouri with a 36% increase in total organic sales between 2017 and 2022 according to USDA’s Census of Agriculture. Neighboring Mid-South states like Arkansas (+190%), Oklahoma (+372%) saw even larger increases. According to the Organic Integrity Database, Missouri has nearly 200 organic farms with laying hens and over 180 farms growing organic row crops such as corn and soybeans. More than a third of Missouri’s organic farms (N=143) grossed over $500,000 according to USDA’s 2021 Survey of Organic Producers.
