This newsletter corresponds with Lesson 2 of the Show Me Nutrition Third Grade curriculum. Children are encouraged to try new whole-grain foods, vegetables and fruits in this newsletter. These types of foods provide many nutrients, including carbohydrates, which provide energy, fiber, vitamins and minerals. A list of familiar and unfamiliar foods is included to provide families with fresh ideas for getting nutrients in a new way.

Publication numbers for third grade newsletters are: N140 (Lesson 1), N142 (Lesson 2), N143 (Lesson 3), N144 (Lesson 4), N145 (Lesson 5), N146 (Lesson 6), N147 (Lesson 7) and N141 (Lesson 8).
