Using this budget, farmers can estimate the costs and returns for growing lisianthus as a cut flower. Table 1 presents estimates for Missouri based on price forecasts in April 2024. Production area is assumed with 300 plants on 60 square feet growing outdoors in an open field. Detailed assumptions and capital investments are summarized in Tables 2 and 3. Use the "Your estimate" column to plan your cut flower operation’s costs and returns.
