Abstract
Using this budget, farmers can estimate the costs and returns associated with feeder pig production for 2027. Table 1 presents estimates for a confinement feeder pig operation in Missouri producing 25.9 weaned pigs per sow per year and selling 24.8 feeder pigs at 50 pounds each. Assumptions were based on price forecasts as of October 2026. Detailed assumptions, feed requirements, and a sensitivity analysis are summarized in Tables 2, 3, and 4. The production practices used to develop these cost estimates are common for Missouri swine farms. Use the “Your estimate” column to estimate your operation’s costs and returns for 2027.
