AVA, Mo. – The Douglas County Livestock and Forage Conference is 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Ava General Baptist Church, 213 E. Webster Ave. in Ava, Mo.
“This conference will equip livestock producers to better manage their operations, stay economically viable and provide quality beef products for the public,” said Tim Schnakenberg, University of Missouri Extension field specialist in agronomy.
Elizabeth Picking, MU Extension field specialist in livestock, will be on hand to discuss ways to set up a grazing system on the farm. Chloe Collins, MU Extension field specialist in dairy, will review ways to build back cow body condition going into the spring.
Schnakenberg will provide some thoughts on how to build a more drought-resilient farm with native grasses.
Local businesses will provide a meal for those who preregister early. Financial support comes from FCS Financial, Town & Country Bank of Ava and Stockmens Bank of Ava.
