MONETT, Mo. – Forage and livestock producers in southwest Missouri will hear how to make the most of their feed to improve herd health and boost profits at the first Monett Beef Conference and trade show on Feb. 18.
The free event is 6-9 p.m. at the Scott Regional Technology Center, 2 David Sippy Drive, Monett.
University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Ian McGregor will speak on forage-based cow nutrition, and state beef nutritionist Eric Bailey will present information on nutrition and management while finishing cull heifers. Northwest Missouri State University instructor Bill Brooks will give the 2025 beef industry outlook.
“Feed tends to be the largest expense for most cattle operations,” says McGregor. “This conference will provide science-based information to help cattle producers optimize the efficiency of their feed resources to improve cattle performance and widen profit margins.”
The event kicks off with a trade show where attendees can speak with industry representatives about products and services that can help their livestock operations, says McGregor.
The event is free, but reservations are requested by Feb. 14 for meals and space. Contact McGregor at ian.mcgregor@missouri.edu or call the MU Extension Center in Lawrence County at 417-466-3102. You can also register at https://extension.missouri.edu/events/monett-beef-conference-0.
