Beekeepers learn about programs to manage risk and contribute to profitability.  

  • The Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP), administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), offers financial aid to producers who suffer losses from specific adverse conditions not covered by other USDA disaster assistance programs.   
  • The Risk Management Agency’s (RMA) Apiculture Pilot Insurance Program (API) provides a safety net for beekeepers’ primary income sources — honey, pollen collection, wax, and breeding stock.  
  • Missouri Sales tax for beekeepers can effect profitability; from having to collect sales tax on sales and paying sales tax on inputs.  Learn how sales tax effects Missouri beekeepers.
