Beekeepers will learn about programs to manage risk and contribute to profitability.

  • The Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP),administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), offers financial aid to producers who suffer losses from specific adverse conditions not covered by other United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) disaster assistance programs.
  • The Apiculture Pilot Insurance Program (API), administered by the Risk Management Agency (RMA), provides a safety net for beekeepers’ primary income sources — honey, pollen collection, wax, and breeding stock.
  • Missouri Sales tax for beekeepers can affect profitability; from having to collect sales tax on sales and paying sales tax on inputs.
