Description
The Construction Safety program covers accident statistics, safety costs, safety culture, ethics, workers’ compensation, the OSH Act, and OSHA standards, along with recordkeeping and inspections. It includes OSHA 10 training. OSHA subparts are explored through jobsite hazard analyses across all scopes of a sample commercial building project.

Learning Outcomes:
When you successfully complete this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify and explain connections between construction safety and health conditions on jobsites and Federal OSHA requirements for construction safety.
2. Analyze construction jobsites for good safety practices and potential hazards.
3. Communicate with construction professionals about construction safety practices and their significance.

Materials:
No textbooks are required. Students must have access to a computer and internet.
Length:
This program is fully asynchronous. Each week includes instructional content, and students may complete the weekly requirements at any time during that week.
Instructional period:
January 19 – March 15, 2026 (8 weeks)
This is when students complete the core coursework.
Total program length:
12 weeks
In addition to the 8 weeks of coursework, students complete a work-based learning (WBL) component. Students may:
- Complete WBL during the 8-week instructional period, or
- Complete WBL after the instructional period, as long as everything is finished within the 12-week program window.
For example, you might complete coursework Jan 19–Mar 15 and then complete your WBL between Mar 16–Apr 12. Or you may complete both at the same time. Students may choose their own WBL site or request placement assistance from the program.

Audience:
Individuals seeking to transition into new roles, such as Occupational Health & Safety Specialists, Construction & Building Inspectors, First-Line Supervisors, Construction Managers, or other related construction occupations, as well as those currently working in the construction trades who want to strengthen their knowledge of construction safety and risk management.
