Forest Ecology and Management

Missouri Woodland Mentors

Where do you turn to for management advice? Perhaps meeting with a Woodland Mentor is right for you. The mission of the Missouri Woodland Mentor program is to foster landowner to landowner learning opportunities. The program aims to build a strong community of land stewards by connecting those with hands-on experience in forest management with landowners seeking guidance and inspiration.

Mentors are landowners just like you. They own a few acres to 100s. Their goals may include wildlife habitat, recreation, and generating income and have experience managing their land in accordance with sound wildlife and forestry principles. Mentors have engaged in invasive species control, forest thinning, timber sales and prescribed fire. Mentors can share real-world experiences in implementing these practices and working with federal and state assistance programs.

Request a meeting with a Woodland Mentor

Woodland Mentors provide assistance based on their experience and time availability. Some may discuss opportunities over the phone. Others provide tours of their property. Not all locations in the state are covered with mentors, but we will do our best to match you with a mentor that fits your needs.
