Julie HarkerUniversity of Missouri Extension is hosting trainings this fall for professional tax preparers. Fall Tax Schools, which start in late October, have in-person and online options.
Attendees can register for a single day (Day 1 or Day 2) or both. The training will use the National Income Tax Workbook 2024.
Topics for Day 1 include business tax issues, individual tax issues, related party issues, real estate rental activity issues and limited liability company issues.
Day 2 topics include business entity tax issues, IRS issues, agriculture and natural resources, trusts and estates, international tax issues, new and expiring legislation, ethics, and information from the Missouri Department of Revenue.
“The MU Fall Tax Schools provide helpful information for tax preparers,” said Mary Sobba, MU Extension agricultural business specialist. “The school includes presentations by a team of instructors, a tax workbook from the Land Grant University Tax Education Foundation and access to a searchable website through September 2025.”

The first two-day tax school is Oct. 28-29 in Springfield, followed by Columbia Oct. 31-Nov. 1. Online classes are Dec. 9-10. Classes run 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m.

Registration deadline is Oct. 16 for in-person classes and Nov. 27 for online. Prices go up after Oct. 4.
The tax school is designed to satisfy requirements for up to 16 hours of continuing professional education with the IRS, Missouri Bar CLE and Certified Financial Planner Board.
