COLUMBIA, Mo. – With HBO’s new six-part documentary series “Neighbors” debuting Feb. 13, a nationally recognized University of Missouri Extension specialist and neighboring enthusiast is available to provide interviews and commentary for reporters and broadcasters as part of a larger discussion about what it means to be a good neighbor in the United States.

David L. Burton is a community development specialist with MU Extension. He has 25 years of experience with MU Extension and has worked with other specialists to help Missouri communities build civic muscle in areas of leadership, contribution, vitality and belonging. Since 2019, Burton has led the Engaged Neighbor Program. He teaches a monthly Neighboring 101 online class, leads other programs related to neighborhood leadership and has spoken national about becoming an engaged neighbor. He is also the creator of Missouri Good Neighbor Week (Sept. 28-Oct. 4), which celebrates engaged neighbors in the state.
