PORTLAND, Mo. – There is still time to register for the “Healthy Trees – Healthy Wildlife” field day on Sept. 13, says Brian Schweiss, University of Missouri Extension sustainable forestry specialist. Schweiss says the free event is for landowners who want to enhance their woodlands to attract more wildlife and maintain healthy trees.

The event is 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Bill and Margie Haag Farm, 8801 Little Tavern Creek Road, Portland, Mo.

MU Extension specialists and representatives of Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, National Wild Turkey Federation, Missouri Department of Conservation and Independent Stave Co. will discuss forest and wildlife management strategies, invasive species control, log values and timber sale options for landowners.

Lunch will be available on the farm.
