BOWLING GREEN, Mo. – If you’ve been thinking about getting into farming, University of Missouri Extension’s Jump-Start Your Farm webinar will help you gain insight into what to do before purchasing a farm property or starting an agricultural-related business.

The free webinar runs 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18. “Lots of people dream of owning a small farm and starting a farm business but aren’t sure where to get started or if farming is right for them,” says MU Extension field specialist in horticulture Justin Keay. “This webinar will help you identify important considerations to make before purchasing a farm property or starting a farm business.”

The webinar covers topics such as where to buy a farm, farm infrastructure, developing a realistic business plan for a small-acreage farm, and MU’s Intel for Ag tool, which helps with identification of a sustainable ag enterprise.

As a bonus, one attendee of the webinar will receive complimentary registration to the Great Plains Growers Conference, Jan. 9-10, 2026, in St. Joseph, Mo.

“The Great Plains Growers Conference is the premier fruit and vegetable growers conference in the region, and we are excited to give an attendee the opportunity to attend the conference where they can learn from extension researchers and farmers, and network with other growers from the region,” says Keay.
