Join Missouri Women Owning Woodlands for a women-focused, hands-on, accessible workshop on health, safety, and well-being around chainsaw usage. Participants will learn about personal protective equipment, field safety, maintenance, and techniques for safe chainsaw operation. This workshop aims to share technical chainsaw materials, prevent secondary injuries, and raise ergonomic awareness among women woodland stewards.

This workshop is hybrid, reverse-classroom format, consisting of 3 virtual sessions leading up to an in-person day of field practice.

Registration fee is $10.

Virtual sessions will be held weekly on Zoom from 6:30 - 7:30 pm on April 15th, 22nd, and 29th. Zoom sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend live, but we do encourage you attend the live session if you are able.

The field session will be held on Saturday, May 2nd from 10 am - 4:30 pm. At the field day, participants will get the opportunity to practice chainsaw maintenance and cutting techniques. The morning will commence at Jefferson Farm and Garden Extension Education Center, 4800 New Haven Rd, Columbia, MO 65201. After lunch, we will move to a field location that is still to be determined but will be no more than a 30 minute drive from Columbia.

Participants are asked to bring their own lunch for the field day.

Owning a chainsaw and personal protective equipment is not required to participate in this program. We will have extra equipment for participants to borrow if needed.
