Local livestock producers will have the opportunity to learn proven strategies to reduce winter feed costs and improve herd health at an upcoming educational workshop hosted by Miller County Extension Center.

The program will feature two timely topics:

  • Forage Options for Winter Grazing – Presented by MU Agronomy Specialist Rudra Baral
    • This session will highlight cost-effective winter forage systems, planting and grazing strategies, and real-world examples of how Missouri farmers are saving money by extending their grazing season.
  • Understanding and Using Hay Testing – Presented by MU Livestock Specialist Gene Schmith
    • This session will explain why hay sampling is important, how to collect accurate samples, how to interpret lab results, and how to use that information to make smart feeding decisions.

Date & Time: August 18, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Location: Miller County Extension Office in Tuscumbia (134, 2nd St Tuscumbia MO 65082)
