MU Extension Livestock Specialist, Elizabeth Picking and MU Extension Agronomy Specialist, Haley Schwantz will discuss how to incubate, hatch, and raise chicks to adulthood. They will also demonstrate how to candle eggs to identify is eggs are fertilized. Attendees will also learn how to identify if eggs are fresh and safe to eat or if they are spoiled. Attendees will learn about bird housing such as space requirements, materials, and needs. Picking will discuss predator control to avoid bird loss. Schwantz will discuss forage selection and diversity for pasture raised and free-range flocks. MU Extension is hosting the conference at Victory Freewill Baptist Church at 1pm.
