Description

This is a self-paced online course designed for professionals who work with children and families. Participants will gain a better understanding of the causes and impacts of homelessness, the unique challenges families experience, and practical, trauma-informed strategies for providing effective support. Through research-based content and real-world examples, learners will build the knowledge and skills needed to foster resilience, connect families with resources, and create more supportive environments for children and students experiencing homelessness.

Syllabus

Learning Outcomes:

- Describe the experiences and challenges faced by children and families experiencing homelessness.
- Explain how homelessness may influence children's development, behavior, and learning.
- Recognize signs that a family may be experiencing housing instability and respond appropriately.
- Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based practices to support children and engage families.
- Connect families with appropriate community resources and services.
- Create an inclusive early learning environment that promotes stability, belonging, and resilience for children experiencing homelessness.
