Description
Prepare for the nationally recognized Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential—the most widely accepted certification in early childhood education. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to advance, this program helps you build essential skills, boost your confidence, and meet job qualifications. This course introduces key principles of human development. Students will take a detailed look at physical, cognitive, socioemotional, and language developmental milestones. The course also covers early brain development and variation in development, with a focus on inclusivity. Additionally, students will learn about cultural influences on children's development.

Syllabus
- Summarize of typical developmental milestones related to physical, cognitive, socio-emotional and speech and language development for children from birth to 5 years (CDA Functional Area [FA] 4,5,6)
- Determine individual variation to be expected in the achievement of developmental milestones and identifying special needs that children may have during the development of these milestones (CDA FA 4,5,6)
- Identify how diverse cultural experiences may influence development, and the expectations around developmental milestones (CDA FA 4,5,6)
- Describe early development of the brain from birth to 5 years and identify how it impacts developmental milestones (CDA FA 4,5,6)
