Course Overview:
Prepare for the nationally recognized Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential—the most widely accepted certification in early childhood education. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to advance, this program helps you build essential skills, boost your confidence, and meet job qualifications.
 
This course introduces key principles of professionalism in early childhood education, emphasizing ethical conduct, legal responsibilities, and effective communication. Students will develop interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and strategies for maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. The course also covers leadership, teamwork, advocacy, and continuous professional development, focusing on cultural competence and managing challenging situations. Additionally, students will learn how to maintain a professional image and avoid burnout through effective stress management and self-care practices.

 
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
  • Understand the concept and importance of professionalism (CDA Functional Area [FA] 13)
  • Understand ethical requirements and legal standards associated with professionalism (CDA FA 13)
  • Develop effective communication for professionalism (CDA FA 13)
  • Develop interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Learn professional boundaries and confidentiality
