IFSTA®’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, 7th Edition provides the essential information firefighters need to meet the job performance requirements for Aircraft Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications contained in the 2024 edition of NFPA 1010: Standard for Fire Fighter; Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator; Airport Fire Fighter; Marine Fire Fighting for Land-Based Fire Fighters; and Facility Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualifications, 2024 Edition.

Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, 7th Edition was developed with all fire protection organizations in mind. It addresses the use of both structural and ARFF apparatus and equipment, covers responses to civilian and military aircraft incidents, and introduces the theory and practice of aircraft fire fighting and rescue operations.

Portions of NFPA 440 (2024) and NFPA 460 (2024) are referenced throughout this manual. Material in this manual also includes those subjects included in the training requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) 139.315, 139.317, and 139.319. Additionally, it contains those subjects outlined in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Airport Services Manual, Parts 1 and 7.
