An introduction to our programs

The Labor Education Program, a continuing education unit of MU Extension, is located at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The program has been engaged in the development and delivery of high-quality leadership training programs for trade union leaders in Missouri and other Midwestern states since 1964.

Since 1964, the program has worked with members and leaders of a variety of workplace-based organizations across Missouri and other Midwestern states to help them develop skills to contribute to their organizations, to act effectively in the workplace, and to be informed and active participants in their communities. During an era of severe economic crisis and rapid changes in the labor market, the challenges of effective leadership are expanding dramatically. The research, curriculum development and teaching efforts of Labor Education program faculty aim to meet the immediate and emerging educational demands of leaders of complex organizations.

MU Extension offers helpful resources for many of the challenges facing Missouri's workforce.
