Payment Plans

Payment Plans are available for our initial education programs.  Arrangements can be made for payment plans prior to the first scheduled day of class.  Students who request a payment plan will be required to complete a payment plan agreement. Questions related to Payment Plans may be directed to emseducation@umsystem.edu

VA Educational Benefits

Students may utilize VA Benefits towards their Initial education programs in accordance with the VA.  For more information on eligibility and how to apply, please visit the VA website.

Once students are approved and receive their Certificate of Eligibility (COE), students must email a PDF copy of their COE to EMS Education. We recommend students start this process at least two months before the start of the Program to mitigate any delays in receiving the necessary documents and approval.

For specific questions, email emseducation@umsystem.edu.

Refund Policy

The EMS Education Office must receive a course withdrawal letter and request for refund to process a refund for the course tuition. Students are responsible for payment of all assessed educational/tuition fees that have been accrued. Students who withdraw from either the EMT or Paramedic Course after classes have begun are subject to the following refund schedule:

Date of Withdrawal (date on which the withdrawal letter is received by EMS Education)  | Refund %

  • Before class begins, Full Refund
  • Before the 2nd class, 90%
  • Before the 4th class, 50%
  • After the 5th class or later, No Refund

EMT Course withdrawal is based on the total course; whereas the AEMT and paramedic course are semester based.

(EXAMPLE: a paramedic student withdraws before the 5th class of the second semester. Refunds will be issued for any payments made for third semester and include the allotted percentage of the second semester)

*Refund percentage is based on the course tuition amount. No refund shall exceed the amount of fees paid, the application fee and seat deposit will not be returned, and all refunds are subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.

Refunds based on credit card payments will be electronically refunded to the credit card. Deductions may be made from the refund amount for any other financial obligations to the University of Missouri-Columbia.

In exceptional cases, a 100% refund for that semester may be authorized at any time during the semester. This is at the discretion of, and in consultation with the Program Director.

In accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs Regulations, CFR 21.4255 policy requirements,

    1. A refund of the unused portion of tuition, fees and other charges will be made to veterans or eligible persons who fail to enter or fail to complete the course as required by Department of Veterans Affairs Regulations, CFR 21.4255.  The refund will be within 10 percent of an exact pro rata refund.  No more than $10 of the established registration fee will be retained if a veteran or eligible person fails to enter the course.
    2. Prompt Refund: The refunded amount shall be paid within 40 days.

Payment plans are available. Arrangements can be made for payment plans prior to the first scheduled day of class. Students who request payment plans will be required to complete a payment plan agreement; acceptance will be at the discretion of the Program Director or designee.

Students who do not make the payment in full on the first day of class or do not meet the terms of any predetermined payment plan will not be allowed to attend class and must either take absences until the full tuition is paid or reenroll in the following course.
