Frequently asked questions
What types of foods will I learn to prepare in the Dining with Diabetes program?
You’ll learn to create full meals with carbohydrate balance in mind. In each class, a set of main dishes and side dishes will be prepared that offer 3-4 carbohydrate servings (45-60 grams carbohydrate). Each program participant will build a plate with portion sizes matching the Diabetes Plate Method guidelines and enjoy the meal during class.
Will the diabetes education be personalized to me and my condition(s)?
The program offers general advice that is helpful for the typical person managing their diabetes. Our instructors are health educators, but are not licensed to provide individualized medical nutrition therapy nor advice on medications. Please discuss personalized care questions with your healthcare providers.
