MOUNT VERNON, Mo. — Grape growers, winemakers and enthusiasts are invited to attend a viticulture field day at the University of Missouri Southwest Research, Extension and Education Center on Friday, July 17.
The free event, 1-5 p.m. at 14548 Highway H, Mount Vernon, will focus on grape production, research and industry updates.
The program will feature educational sessions and field tours on topics such as irrigation technology, pest and disease management in grapevines, and recent research on grape varieties, including Chambourcin and muscadine grapes.
The event brings together researchers, MU Extension specialists and industry professionals to share practical knowledge with growers, organizers said.
Speakers include representatives from the Missouri Department of Agriculture, MU and University of Arkansas, as well as industry professionals. Presentations will address the state of Missouri’s grape and wine industry, vineyard disease and nematode management, muscadine grape production opportunities, irrigation tools and grower perspectives.
The field day is supported by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the MU Grape and Wine Institute, and MU Southwest Center.
The event is organized by Andy Thomas with assistance from MU Extension horticulture specialist Matthew Huchteman.
