STOCKTON, Mo. – “The numbers were low, but the prices were high at the Southwest Missouri All Breeds Performance Tested Bull Sale on Oct. 27 in Springfield,” says Patrick Davis, University of Missouri Extension livestock field specialist. The current market is fueling high bull sale averages, and this sale was no different: 21 bulls sold for an average of $7,128 per bull.

“This was primarily an Angus bull sale with 19 bulls selling for an average price of $7,274 per bull,” says Davis. The top-selling bull, from Fred Swartzentruber of Blue Mound Angus, El Dorado Springs, Mo., sold for $10,000 to James Doke of Brighton, Mo. Swartzentruber also had the third high-selling bull at $8,800 that sold to Wilbert Kropf of Clinton, Mo. The second high-selling bull was consigned by Beau’s Black Angus of Stafford, Mo., and sold for $8,900 to Matt Dill of Niangua, Mo.

“One Hereford bull sold for $5,000,” says Davis. The consigner of this bull was Cork Cattle Company of Wentworth, Mo., and the bull sold to Mathew Wommack of Buffalo, Mo.

“One Gelbvieh bull sold for $6,500,” says Davis. The consigner was Witt Cattle Company of El Dorado Springs, Mo., and the buyer was Jerry Duff of Meta, Mo.
