SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – University of Missouri Extension will offer noncertified restricted-use pesticide applicator training March 6 in Springfield.

Training is required for a license to legally use restricted-use pesticides while working under the direct supervision of a certified commercial applicator, certified noncommercial applicator or certified public operator, says MU Extension agronomist Terry Halleran.

The four-hour training covers competency standards such as reading and understanding pesticide labels, pesticide application techniques, safely storing and disposing of chemicals and protecting pollinators and other wildlife. Trainers will explain state and federal pesticide use rules, says Halleran.

Training is 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Missouri State University’s Darr Agricultural Center, 2401 S. Kansas Expressway, Springfield.

Call the MU Extension Center in Hickory County at 417-745-6767 to register. Walk-in registrations also will be accepted, but payment must be made by check or cash only. Credit or debit cards cannot be accepted.
