ST. PETERS, Mo. – Learn how to operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently at workshops sponsored by University of Missouri Extension in November, says Sarah Higgins, MU Extension field specialist in natural resources.
No prior chainsaw experience is necessary to attend, said Higgins. The sessions cover chainsaw safety basics, including personal protective equipment, field safety, chainsaw maintenance and safe cutting techniques.
The hybrid workshop consists of three virtual sessions leading up to an in-person day of field practice at the MU Extension Center in St. Charles County, 260 Brown Road, St. Peters.
Weekly virtual sessions are 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on consecutive Wednesdays from Nov. 5 to Nov. 19. The Zoom sessions will be recorded for those who cannot attend live, but attendance is encouraged.
The field day is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. Participants will have the opportunity to practice chainsaw maintenance and cutting techniques.
