Chart of planting pace in Missouri for corn, soybeans, rice and cotton as of June 23, 2019

The rain returned to Missouri this past week, leaving only 2.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Soybean plantings progressed by 9 percentage points, but progress was minimal in corn, rice and cotton.

There are few years where planting has been delayed to this extent. Missouri corn crop conditions worsened this week, with 8% and 25% in the very poor and poor condition ratings, respectively, compared with 5% and 23%, respectively, last week.

In the first soybean crop condition rating of the year, Missouri soybeans are rated 36% in good to excellent condition, compared with 45% last year. Rice and cotton condition ratings improved very slightly.
