Health professionals invited to connect, learn and lead in cancer survivorship care.

Health care professionals have two upcoming opportunities to deepen their understanding of cancer survivorship: a free webinar series and a statewide symposium featuring a physician who is also a cancer survivor.

Cancer Survivorship ECHO

The Cancer Survivorship ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a free virtual learning network to support rural primary care teams and community oncologists. in delivering long-term, patient-centered care to cancer survivors. Through interactive case discussions and expert-led sessions, participants gain guidance in care planning, long-term monitoring and supportive care.

The series meets online every second and fourth Friday from noon–1 p.m. through Dec. 12. Registration is free, and participants may qualify for free continuing education credits.

2025 Ellis Fischel Cancer Symposium

The 2025 Ellis Fischel Clinical Cancer Symposium will convene health care providers, researchers, bioethicists and policymakers to examine the evolving landscape of cancer care and research. The event is Thursday, Oct. 2, and Friday, Oct. 3, at Stoney Creek Hotel in Columbia.

Featured speaker Daniel Miller, MD, Ph.D., a board-certified anatomic and cytopathologist at Washington University in St. Louis, brings both professional expertise and lived experience as a long-term survivor of metastatic thyroid cancer. He will share reflections on the transformative power of federally funded biomedical research, drawing from his personal journey as well as his scholarship on the global and economic impact of cancer.

In addition to keynote addresses and panel discussions, the symposium will explore complex challenges arising in cancer care, research and innovation.
