Enrollment opens for Master Naturalist Course in Kirksville

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Registration is open for the Missouri Master Naturalist course offered by University of Missouri Extension and Missouri Department of Conservation. The course runs 5:30-9 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 3 to Nov. 19 at the Missouri Department of Conservation Northeast Regional Office in Kirksville.

The course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge of conservation and natural resources, says Jennifer Schutter, MU Extension horticulturist. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 26.

To become a Master Naturalist, participants must complete the course, a capstone project and volunteer at least 40 hours per year.

The course provides a foundation in conservation, wildlife, forest ecology invasive species, native plants and prairies, pond management and aquatic plants and more, Schutter said.
