STOCKTON, Mo. – “Cattle health and taxes are important factors that influence cattle operation productivity and profitability,” says Patrick Davis, University of Missouri Extension livestock field specialist. Furthermore, education on management of these things is important to operation sustainability. Therefore, MU Extension, Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District and Cedar County Farm Bureau are cooperating to provide the Cedar County Livestock and Forage Conference 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Stockton United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 708 State Highway 32, Stockton.

“Cedar County agriculture organizations will provide updates during the conference,” says Davis. The Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District office will provide updates on their programs as well as honor their cooperator of the year. Also, a representative from Cedar County Farm Bureau will provide a legislative update.

“This conference will focus on cattle health and farm tax implications due to political policies,” says Davis.

Presentations and speakers:

  • Cattle health update: Theileria and new world screwworm. Craig Payne, Director, MU Veterinary Extension.
  • Farm tax implications due to political policies. Wesley Tucker, MU Extension agriculture business field specialist.

“Agriculture businesses that support the conference will have booths set up,” says Davis.
