Caldwell County celebrates Missouri Good Neighbor Week

Published

BRAYMER, Mo. – The University of Missouri Extension Council in Caldwell County marked Missouri Good Neighbor Week by bringing residents together at a local high school football game and sharing information about MU Extension programs and services.

To celebrate the week, the council hosted a gift basket giveaway during Braymer High School's Oct. 2 homecoming football game with Polo. The game provided an opportunity for residents from both communities to come together while learning more about MU Extension’s presence in Caldwell County.

Council members assembled and donated two gift baskets that included slow cookers pots, soup mixes, recipe pamphlets, blankets, mugs, hat-and-glove sets and freeze-dried treats. Attendees entered a drawing for the baskets, and winners were announced at halftime.

The event highlighted the spirit of Missouri Good Neighbor Week while helping connect local residents with MU Extension resources available in Caldwell County.

Missouri Good Neighbor Week was founded in 2021 and became an official state observance in 2022. It is celebrated annually from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. This year, Missourians reported 84,398 acts of neighboring, shattering the statewide goal of 50,000 and more than doubling the number reported during Missouri Good Neighbor Week in 2025.
