Director David E. Hedrick of the University of Missouri’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) has announced the appointment of two new Regional Training Coordinators for the Institute for Region A: Robert Little of Kansas City, Missouri, and Roger Meyers of Concordia, Missouri. Regional Training Coordinator positions are part-time positions within the Institute. MU FRTI is a unit within the Division of Extension at the University and is charged with the responsibility for providing comprehensive continuing education training to Missouri’s fire service and emergency response personnel. MU FRTI provides training for over 13,000 firefighters and emergency responders each year.
Little is a Captain with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District in Blue Springs, Missouri. He has been an Adjunct Instructor with MU FRTI since 2005. Little will be responsible for coordinating training courses in Missouri State Highway Patrol Region A, centered around the metro area, and to include the counties of Bates, Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte.
Meyers is a retired member of the Concordia Fire Protection District, in Concordia, Missouri, still serving as an EMT for the department. He also serves Alma Fire Protection District as a Training Officer/Firefighter. Additionally, he serves as a Training Coordinator/Firefighter for Lincoln Community Fire Protection District. He has been an Adjunct Instructor with MU FRTI since 2011. Meyers will be responsible for coordinating training courses in Missouri State Highway Patrol Region A, to include the counties of Benton, Carroll, Henry, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, Ray, and Saline.

They have a proven record of excellence in field extension training, and we look forward to their continued work with the Institute in this new capacity.”
Coordinator Little and Meyers fill the vacancy left by the retirement of MU FRTI Regional Training Coordinator Mike Booth of Kansas City, Missouri. Booth has been an Adjunct Instructor for MU FRTI since 1993 and has served as the Regional Training Coordinator for Region A since 1999. Director Hedrick said, “Mike has been instrumental in coordinating training activities for the Institute in western Missouri. His contribution has directly resulted in the enhanced safety and protection of our citizens, state, and nation.”
