Director David E. Hedrick of the University of Missouri’s Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) has announced the appointment of Erin McGruder to fill the position of Curriculum Specialist with the Institute. Ms. McGruder is a resident of Harrisburg, Missouri. MU FRTI is a unit of Extension at the University and is charged with the responsibility for providing comprehensive continuing education training to Missouri’s fire service and emergency response personnel. MU FRTI provides training to nearly 14,000 firefighters and emergency responders each year.

Erin has a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephens College, and has credentials as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute. She has volunteer fire service experience with Boone County Fire Protection District, and is a Technical Information Specialist with Missouri Task Force One (FEMA/DHS). McGruder has technical writing experience and has done curriculum development. She has been a guest instructor at MU FRTI’s Winter Fire School. McGruder is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter II, Fire Investigator, and Fire Instructor II in Missouri.

Regarding McGruder’s appointment as the Curriculum Specialist, MU FRTI Director Hedrick said, “Erin’s education and writing background along with her technical experience as a firefighter and Task Force member will be a great asset to MU FRTI. We look forward to her contributions to the Institute.”
