Today vehicle extrication is as much a part of the fire service as firefighting. This class deals with tools and techniques required to remove an entrapped victim from a vehicle accident. Emphasis is on proper use of powered and manual rescue tools and air bags, coordination with EMS personnel, vehicle designs, ICS, and safety considerations. Participants will apply these techniques in practical applications. This course meets Chapter 8, Technician Level, of NFPA 1670 Standard Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, as well as, Chapter 10, Vehicle Rescue of NFPA 1006, Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications.
