MU Extension’s Private Pesticide Applicator Training (PPAT) educates individuals seeking a Private Applicator or ‘Provisional’ Private Applicator Category 20-General Agricultural Pest Control (CORE) certification through the Missouri Department of Agriculture to purchase and use Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) for purposes of producing any agricultural commodity on property owned or rented by the individual or the individual’s employer safely and effectively. ‘Provisional’ Private Applicator certification is required for any individual who is sixteen or seventeen years of age and an immediate family member of a Certified Private Applicator to use RUP’s on property owned or rented by the individual’s immediate family member. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Department of Agriculture require this training to demonstrate an understanding of current pesticide competency standards and regulations. You must complete this training to receive or renew certification.

This training does NOT include Category 21-Soil Fumigation Pest Control, Category 22-Non-Soil Fumigation Pest Control, nor Category 23-Aerial Pest Control. Certification in one of these requires additional training that may be requested by contacting the MU Extension Specialist providing the Category 20-CORE training. No additional fee for these optional trainings.

Cost: $75
