MU Extension’s Private Pesticide Applicator Training (PPAT) educates individuals seeking a Private Applicator or ‘Provisional’ Private Applicator Category 20-General Agricultural Pest Control (CORE) certification through the Missouri Department of Agriculture to purchase and use Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) for purposes of producing any agricultural commodity on property owned or rented by the individual or the individual’s employer safely and effectively. ‘Provisional’ Private Applicator certification is required for any individual who is sixteen or seventeen years of age and an immediate family member of a Certified Private Applicator to use RUP’s on property owned or rented by the individual’s immediate family member. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Department of Agriculture require this training to demonstrate an understanding of current pesticide competency standards and regulations. You must complete this training to receive or renew certification.

Category 22-Non-Soil Fumigation Pest Control (grain bins) and Category 23-Aerial Pest Control (drone, helicopter, airplane) will be offered immediately following the Category 20 training if requested. There is no additional fee for these optional trainings.

This training does NOT include Category 21-Soil Fumigation Pest Control. Please contact the specialist conducting this training for information about Category 21 training.
