The MU Extension’s Private Pesticide Applicator Training teaches farmers and other pesticide users how to handle and apply pesticides safely and effectively. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Missouri Department of Agriculture require this training to demonstrate an understanding of current pesticide competency standards and regulations. Recertification training must be taken every five years to maintain a private pesticide applicator’s license in Missouri.

The training covers important competency standards like reading and understanding pesticide labels, pesticide application techniques, storing and disposing of chemicals safely, and protecting pollinators and other wildlife. It also explains state and federal rules about pesticide use and allows applicators an opportunity to ask questions about the latest developments. You must complete this training to get or renew a Private Pesticide Applicator License, which allows you to legally buy and use Restricted Use (RU) pesticides on your farm. The training program helps protect people, crops, animals, and the environment while promoting safe pesticide use.

Cost: $75

This in-person training will only provide certification for Private Pesticide Applicator Category 20 Required Core Training.
