Signed into law in 2022, Missouri Good Neighbor Week encourages citizens of Missouri to “participate in events and activities to establish connections with their neighbors”.

In 2023 our goal was to document 15,000 acts of neighboring….we documented 19,778! Thank you, Missouri, for showing up for your neighbors during Missouri Good Neighbor Week. We can’t wait for 2024.

Plan your activity or event now and then report back to be entered in our random drawing for prizes. Visit our website for project ideas. Or nominate someone you know to be recognized as one of Missouri's Most Engaged Neighbors.

There are three new aspects of Missouri Good Neighbor Week this year:

  • First, winners of the Most Engaged Neighbor contest will be announced during Missouri Good Neighbor Week. Anyone who is nominated will receive a letter of recognition and gift in the mail.
  • Second, we have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to encourage service projects with local Habitat offices. We want to raise awareness of Habitat among those who participate in the neighborhood celebration. If the Habitat office locally is able to leverage the week to get donations and volunteers that is a bonus. And we will encourage extension offices to partner with Habitat too.
  • Third, we will be recognizing the Most Neighborly Cities in Missouri. This award will use four size categories provided by the Missouri Municipal League: Small City, with population under 5,000, Medium City, with population 5,000 – 15,000, Large City, with population 15,000 -30,000, or Metro City, with population more than 30,000. Cities earn points when a resident is nominated for an award, reports on a neighboring activity, or when the city hosts a neighboring activities. Bonus points are earned if a city has a winning neighbor nomination or a winning act of neighboring that is documented during the week.
