This course will assist first responders in appropriately organizing and managing a search and rescue response. Participants will build their skills in developing search strategies and resources. A brief overview of the aspects of the search operation; and the rescue operation will be culminated with a practical field exercise in a mock search and rescue. This course was designed for either initial instruction or as a continual education refresher.
Special requirements
- Participants shall provide:
- a whistle
- well broken in hiking boots
- clothing suitable for walking in rough terrain in prevalent weather conditions
- Recommended supplies include:
- compass
- insect repellent
- sun or safety glasses
- sunscreen
- day pack with personal water and high energy snack
